Problem Statement:
The client does a lot of trail biking and didn’t want to have to carry their bear spray container in the back of their jersey pocket. They wanted a way to strap it to a place on their bike normally design for a water bottle cage but couldn’t find anything on the market they wanted.
Design Thoughts:
This had to be quick access, but can’t fall out on bumpy rides. It needed to fit the industry standard screw pattern for water bottle cages.
Solution:
I created a "cage" for the bear spray canister with a velcro strap for quick grab and spray when needed but still secure over time. The can comes out by tipping it forward rather than “up and out” which makes it easier to maneuver and get quickly. A hole was put in the bottom to allow for drainage of water, and it was even printed in a color that complimented their bike as well!
